Sports Massage Therapy – Whether you are training for a big race, lifting weights, or currently in your sports season, Sports Massage will help you improve your game, your gains and your recovery time.

A Sports Therapy treatment is performed with the intent of improving:

Joint Mobility – Your joints have restrictive movement when the fascia surrounding muscles tighten. The impact from your sport puts pressure and tension on your joints causing joint friction which can lead to joint pain and injury. Regular sports massage can loosen this fascia and surrounding muscles to improve circulation and allow your joints to move freely.

Increased Flexibility – When your muscles tighten, blood flow and circulation is restricted, inhibiting your muscles from healing as quickly. Lactic acid and other debris build up in your muscles causing irritation and tenderness. Sports massage helps flush the muscle and increase circulation for a quick recovery.

Sports Massage CharlottesvilleMuscle Power – Your muscles have a “natural resting length.” When your muscles are chronically tense, muscle strength lessens. Your range of motion decreases, limiting your power for your sport or play. Regular sports massage can help return your muscles to their natural resting length.

Michael is a Virginia native from Richmond. He has been practicing Sports Medicine since 2008. Michael knows a great amount about how the body works, as well as what you can do to help keep it running smoothly.

Michael can help you to not only repair and recover your body after it has sustained an injury, he can also help you to maintain optimal health in everyday life. Massage therapy should not just be a treatment that is only required when you have muscular pain or after an injury has occurred. It is an important part of sustaining health by helping maintain homeostasis—a term that refers to regulating the variables within your body. This ensures that your internal conditions remain stable and continue to function properly.

Michael will create a Massage Therapy strategy that best fits your individual needs. You are unique. With the right strategy we can get you moving, feeling and playing at your best!
